Dr Mike Moreno's 17 Day Dietis a revolutionary new weight-loss programme that activates your skinny gene so that you burn fat day in and day out. Great read, very informative and easy to follow. Takes the hard work of over thinking about your diet. It really is a lifestyle change. I bought this book 3 years ago, had two small children and had been struggling with my weight. I would have been happy to lose 15 lbs but in three months I lost 32lbs. I was down to my high school size. Now 3 years later I gained a few pounds back BUT only because I chose to eat crap during our process of moving and going out to eat constantly. But I'm back down again because I could just go back to this. I'm more active and work out and know that there is healthy REAL food out there. No gimmicks, just actual REAL food. No pills, no supplements, no shakes, just go to the store and know what to buy. I didn't have to change a bunch of things for myself and family to eat together. MyBlood pressure went down as well as cholesterol. This is seriously my go to anytime I'm feeling fluffy because of bad choices. But it's easy and we're human, it's a journey, not just a destination! I'll have to find some before and after picks if I can find any before!!! Never wanted to be in front of a camera before:) highly recommend!

My husband and I needed to lose weight. So, our daughter shared this book with us. After four months we have lost together, over 110 lbs. After, myself, weighing over 170 I am now at 125. My husband was over 270 and is now 205. Thank you Dr Moreno for helping us get healthier.
Ok. You may think that you just cannot lose weight - you've tried everything - plans, special foods, no-foods, supplements, etc., etc.
Been there, done that.
If that's your story also, you must try this diet! I heard about this doctor's book through someone else, thought it sounded reasonable, and actually checked it out at my local library. It's well-written, answers lots of questions, and draws on scientific research and tests. My husband and I both lost about 20 pounds in about 7 months, and have maintained it for another 4 months. I dropped two pant sizes, look and feel like a new woman! I would have to say that it was a relatively easy process, as it focuses on lean protein (which satiates for a long period of time) and certain veggies. This way of eating is easy, satisfies completely, is very healthy, and best of all - it works well. I plan to eat this way for the rest of my life.
I purchased a copy of this book a couple years ago and it worked very well! People were asking what I was doing to lose the weight. In addition to telling people about the plan, I also loaned the book to others. However, 'loaning' a book to someone doesn't guarantee getting it back, so I needed to buy this copy. Great plan that's easy to do, with fantastic results. My blood sugars, cholesterol, blood pressure, etc. all returned to normal levels. I would recommend it to anyone!
This diet makes me feel better. I lost 3 lbs in the first few days. I was craving carbs and sweets but I have not felt like I'm not able to eat. There is enough to eat and I just feel better. Easy to read book makes a good case for healthier eating habits and life style. I read the other reviews and that's what made me try it. Easy to follow and cooking does not take long so with my crazy schedule it's still doable. And I'm eating veggies again )

After seeing 2 of my co-workers have great success with this diet, I finally decided to do it myself since I never lost the baby weight from having my 2nd child. So I played it safe and bought this book with a few other weight loss books so I could mix and match the information to suit me just in case 1 of the diets was too hard for me to stick to.
Right now I'm midway through the 2nd cycle, but at the end of the 1st 17 day cycle, I lost a total of 13 pounds. I did some tinkering around with some of the other diet information I learned however, so I didn't do this strictly by the book.
The 17 day diet is a branch off of low carb diets. The first of 4 different 17 day cycles is the hardest and requires you to eat a lot of chicken, turkey, fish, and vegetables. So if you're a picky eater and like to eat a lot of different things, this may not be the diet for you.
Because of the lack of carbs, I had a headache, a bit of brain fog, and was more tired than normal for the first 2 days on the diet. But after tinkering a bit, my body adjusted and I was fine after that. You'll also add back the carbs in the other 3 cycles so don't worry if you're a big carb addict with a sweet tooth or in need of starchy foods.
Learn to like green tea. I wasn't into it before this diet, but I've gotten used to it. No big deal. You have to get away from sodas and diet sodas. Sodas are loaded with useless, empty calories and diet sodas have aspartame in them.
Also on carbs, you'll end up eating most of your carbs in the morning, which is great advice.
For exercise, the 17 minutes of walking each day is sound advice for people who never exercise, but for me it wasn't enough. I did it (actually I did 30+ minute walks) after dinner, but I also followed the home exercises from The 5-Second Flat Belly Secret - Lose 2-3 Inches from Your Belly in Less Than 1 Month I could speed up my weight loss.
Supplements and buying expensive special foods... none of that type of stuff in this book as opposed to most other diet books. So that's a big plus and saves money.
If you're someone who needs a simple plan to follow and you have some discipline, then this book will work well for you. I give it 4 stars and not 5 because it's still a diet and there are restrictions and because I think the version could be cheaper. It's not a perfect diet and it's definitely not a fit for everyone. But for most people, it should be fine.
